Serentica Renewables said on Tuesday that it has entered into an agreement with state-owned NTPC to deliver 200 MW of renewable energy to Uttar Pradesh. Under the terms of the power purchase agreement (PPA), the 200 MW of on-demand renewable energy will be supplied to the state’s distribution companies (discoms), according to a statement from Serentica Renewables.
Akshay Hiranandani, CEO of Serentica Renewables, stated, "This agreement underscores our commitment to delivering reliable and sustainable renewable energy solutions. By integrating solar, wind, and cutting-edge storage technologies, we can ensure a stable and dependable energy supply for Uttar Pradesh, especially during peak demand periods, while supporting the state’s broader energy transition goals."
He explained that the Firm Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) model is essential for ensuring a reliable and continuous supply of clean energy, particularly during peak demand periods or when renewable sources like wind and solar are less predictable. This model is crucial in advancing the state's energy transition by effectively bridging the gap between renewable generation and the variable demands of the grid, positioning it as a cornerstone of a sustainable and resilient energy future.
