Q.What is your current manufacturing capacity? What are your expansion plans?
Recently we have expanded our manufacturing capacity to 2500 MW in India, placing us among the top 5 manufacturers in the country. But that’s not all; we will also be the first Indian enterprise to begin producing 500 MW in a wealthy country like the USA. As stated before Rayzon Solar is always up-to-date with its technology and innovation, In the near future, we are going to introduce N-Type solar modules and Topcon solar modules up to 700Wp. which delivers both efficiency and stability. The solar industry and its day-to-day innovation are new to the market and talking about challenges we have to do more R&D to understand the market and its challenges.

Q.What is the scope for Mono facial modules and Bifacial modules in India and what is Rayzon’s focus and why?
Monofacial modules can be used in applications where the ground albedo is not significant or not available like in roof-mounted systems (in warehouses or factories). Bifacial modules can provide additional generation (more than monofacial modules) in areas where the ground albedo is available like in ground-mounted systems (provided the plant layout is designed to harness the bifacial gain to the optimum level). Also, another aspect of using Dual glass bifacial modules is the higher reliability as the backside glass shields the solar cells from undue impacts and prevents the generation of cracks in the solar cells. Further, the backside glass prevents ingress of moisture inside the solar panel so the degradation rates are much lower, which guarantees a higher lifetime energy generation (as compared to back sheet-based modules). As Rayzon Solar is moving towards TOPCon module production, which is more prone to corrosion from moisture, our focus is shifting towards Dual Glass modules which can guarantee the durability of the modules in the harsh Hot and humid climatic conditions prevalent
in India.

Q.What policy changes would you like to see to help Solar PV Modules flourish? Is there anything else that can boost the solar installations in India?
Rayzon Solar, a dedicated solar panel manufacturer, aims to drive solar installations and energy growth in India through strategic policy recommendations. They advocate for substantial incentives and subsidies to make solar energy financially appealing to both residential and commercial sectors. Simplifying net metering procedures would encourage solar adoption, while increased investment in research and development could lead to breakthroughs in efficiency and energy storage. Supporting domestic solar manufacturing would enhance local production, job creation, and affordability. Enforcing renewable energy mandates industries and utilities would stimulate demand and energy diversity. Additionally, enhancing grid infrastructure, raising public awareness, and establishing skill development programs are key facets of Rayzon Solar’s vision. They propose collaboration with financial institutions to offer green financing, ensuring wider accessibility to solar installations. Streamlined regulatory processes, including permits and land acquisition, are also highlighted as crucial for project efficiency. Rayzon Solar’s visionary outlook anticipates India’s emergence as a prominent global leader in renewable energy, and we stand prepared to contribute to this evolution through cutting-edge Solar PV Modules and unwavering collaboration.

Q.What is the extent of your Renewables Portfolio and what technologies does it cover?
Rayzon Solar has the capability to produce modules of different cell technologies from Aluminium BSFbased multi-crystalline modules to Mono PERC and TOPCon modules (based on n-type wafers). For the Mono PERC modules, Rayzon Solar has certified wattage up to 555 Watt-peak while for the TOPCon we are going for certification up to 585 Watt-peak. We are manufacturing monofacial and Bifacial modules (with both transparent backsheet and dual glass). As the solar industry is rapidly moving towards the adoption of the TOPCon technology, we are also gearing up to introduce higher-wattage solar panels based on TOPCon technology.

Q.How can these challenges of the solar industry be addressed? How is your company contributing towards transition?
The major challenge of the solar industry presently is to transition from the existing 5 busbars Aluminium BSF-based module production technology to the latest technologies like Mono PERC and TOPCon in a cost-effective manner, since the changes in machinery involve huge capital investments. Rayzon Solar started its first 1500 MW Mono PERC module production line (with the ability to handle 10 busbar cells) more than 1 year back, in 2022, and has been enhancing its production capacity in a progressive manner up to an additional 1200 MW. Its second production line with the capability to handle 16 busbar cells is presently under installation, and Rayzon will have the capacity to produce both Mono PERC and TOPCon modules in this second line.

Q.Could you tell us about your major projects and the clientele you are catering to?
We have successfully completed major projects in several Indian states, including Gujarat, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu. Our expertise extends to both Poly and Half Cut Mono PERC technologies. With a strong presence in the market, we are dedicated to serving MWp-scale supply and collaborating with developers engaged in groundmount projects to enhance our brand reputation Our primary focus lies on the PM-Kusum Yojana its forthcoming projects in the aforementioned states. Additionally, we are actively engaged in the growing DCR Make Half Cut market. The demand for DCR (Domestic Content Requirement) compliant products has gained prominence in the market, and the government has also issued tenders with DCR requirements.
