Adani Group Uveils India’s First Hydrogen-powered Truck for Mining Logistics

The Adani Group has deployed India’s inaugural hydrogen-powered truck for mining logistics in Chhattisgarh, capable of transporting 40 tonnes of cargo over a distance of 200 kilometres, as said by the conglomerate recently. Adani Enterprises, the group’s flagship company, introduced these hydrogen fuel cell trucks in its efforts to advance cleaner transportation. The firm said that these hydrogen-powered trucks will progressively take the place of diesel vehicles currently utilised in its logistics operations.

In association with an Indian and a global energy technology company, along with a leading automobile manufacturer, Adani is creating hydrogen fuel cell battery-powered trucks for freight transportation. Each truck, featuring advanced technology and three hydrogen tanks, is capable of transporting up to 40 tonnes of cargo over a distance of 200 km.

The Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, Vishnu Deo Sai, inaugurated the first truck in Raipur, which is designated for transporting coal from the Gare Pelma III Block to the state’s power facility.

“The launch of India’s inaugural hydrogen-powered truck in Chhattisgarh reflects the state’s dedication to sustainability. Such initiatives are poised to greatly diminish our carbon emissions and establish a new benchmark for the industry. Chhattisgarh is not only a leader in fulfilling the nation’s electricity requirements but also serves as a model in embracing sustainable practices,” Sai said.
