Dr Rakesh Kumar has announced that he will continue to lead the renewable and energy storage initiatives at Ddev Plastiks Industries Limited, focusing on the company’s expansion into Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and integrated Solar + Storage EPC activities.
Ddev Plastiks Industries Limited, widely known as one of India’s leading polymer compound manufacturers for the cable, construction, engineering, and industrial segments, has recently moved to diversify into the renewable energy storage space. The company’s board has approved a proposal to enter the BESS business and launch a multi-phase manufacturing programme aimed at catering to utilities, commercial and industrial, and residential segments. As part of this plan, a 5 GWh BESS manufacturing facility is envisioned to strengthen India’s energy storage infrastructure.
In his announcement, Dr Kumar highlighted his long association with Ddev Plastiks and reiterated his commitment to scaling utility-grade energy storage solutions while integrating solar and storage project execution capabilities. He emphasised collaboration with industry partners, policymakers, and technology leaders to build reliable and scalable energy storage solutions in support of India’s evolving clean energy landscape.
The company’s traditional business has centred on manufacturing a broad range of polymer compounds used in wire and cable, construction, packaging, automotive, aerospace, and industrial applications. Its diversified portfolio and global footprint span multiple manufacturing units and export markets.
Industry experts note that entry into the BESS segment reflects a growing trend among materials and manufacturing companies to diversify into energy storage, aligning with India’s expanding renewable energy ecosystem and grid integration requirements.
