Q1. As one of India’s fastest-growing renewable transformer manufacturers, what has driven UTTAM’s accelerated growth in recent years?

UTTAM’s growth has been driven by one simple principle — solve the industry’s real problems before the industry asks for them.

Long before solar EPCs recognized the need for inverter-specific transformers, we were already designing IDTs engineered for harmonics, switching stresses and lifetime thermal behaviour. This ability to stay technically ahead of market demand — not respond to it — is what has allowed us to partner with NTPC, SECI, L&T, Mahindra and India’s top developers.

Today, our installations power 200+ MW NTPC Gujarat, multiple SECI floating solar assets, and large utility parks across the country.

Our learnings, field-experience, and R&D philosophy are also documented in India’s first Inverter Duty Transformer Handbook — authored in-house at Uttam.field experience.

Growth, for us, has never been a coincidence. It is a result of intentional engineering, fast execution, and a reputation for reliability.

Q2. With stricter expectations on quality and reliability, how does UTTAM ensure long-term performance in the field?

Our quality philosophy is anchored on two pillars:
(1) Design that anticipates site realities
(2) Testing that validates every assumption

From impulse testing and tan-delta to temperature-rise, our NABL-accredited in-house lab ensures full traceability and world-class precision.
But more importantly, every test result feeds into a closed-loop learning system, influencing winding design, insulation decisions, and material selection.

This combination of scientific rigor + field empathy ensures our transformers perform reliably — not just on day one, but across the entire lifecycle of the project.

Q3. What role is innovation playing in UTTAM’s next phase of growth?

For us, innovation is not a department — it is a habit.

From ultra-low loss amorphous-core designs to advanced IDTs that withstand high-frequency switching from modern inverters, our engineering work focuses on what the future grid will demand.

We have also pioneered exports of IEEE-standard single-phase pad-mounted transformers to the USA, making UTTAM one of the only Indian manufacturers to achieve this milestone.

Every product we build is driven by one question:
“How do we engineer reliability into tomorrow’s renewable ecosystem?”

Q4. What is UTTAM doing to upgrade manufacturing capacity for India’s growing renewable needs?

Our upcoming 1,60,000 sq. ft. facility, operational from September 2025, is designed as one of India’s most disciplined transformer plants — with:

  • Dedicated production lines for IDTs, amorphous units & utility transformers
  • Expanded VPD & VPI infrastructure
  • High-voltage test bays
  • Digitalised process monitoring
  • Integrated quality systems

This plant will scale our installed renewable transformer capacity to 4.5 GW annually— positioning UTTAM as a preferred partner for India’s 500 GW renewable future.

Q5. As India moves toward Net Zero, how is UTTAM supporting the sustainability agenda?

Sustainability is embedded in both our products and our philosophy.

#OneForOne Initiative – One tree planted for every transformer manufactured
LEED-certified upcoming factory – among the first in the transformer industry
Energy-efficient designs – Amorphous-core transformers & optimized IDTs
Long-life engineering – reducing replacement cycles and material consumption

We believe sustainability is not a statement; it must show in actions, decisions, and design philosophy.

Q6. What is UTTAM’s long-term vision for global expansion?

Our global roadmap is clear:

  • Build world-class credibility through international certifications and field performance
  • Expand footprint in the USA, Europe, the Middle East, and strategic emerging markets
  • Strengthen partnerships with utilities, IPPs & EPCs
  • Establish UTTAM as a trusted global brand for reliable renewable-power transformers

This will be driven by engineering depth, transparent execution, and the agility that has always defined UTTAM.

Q7. Any message for the renewable energy community?

Renewable energy is no longer a sector — it is a responsibility.

As manufacturers, our role is not just to deliver equipment, but to safeguard the performance, financial returns and reliability of every solar or hybrid project built in India.

Whether it is EPCs, IPPs, utilities, or OEMs —
Our commitment is simple:
If you choose UTTAM, you choose reliability engineered with intent.
