India Energy Week 2026 Calls for Global Investment and Strategic Energy Partnerships

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi emphasised India’s huge energy potential and the pressing need for global investment and partnerships while inaugurating India Energy Week 2026 via video conferencing. Representatives from nearly 125 countries joined the event to discuss a sustainable, secure and future-ready energy ecosystem.

Addressing delegates, the Prime Minister highlighted India’s growing role in the global energy landscape, noting that the country’s rapid economic expansion and rising energy demand have created immense investment opportunities worth USD 500 billion across the energy value chain. He invited global investors with a clear message: “Make in India, Innovate in India, Scale with India, Invest in India.”

Modi underlined India’s evolution from energy security to a strategic pursuit of energy independence, driven by reforms aimed at strengthening hydrocarbons, refining, LNG infrastructure and exploration. He announced long-term targets, including raising investment in the oil and gas sector to USD 100 billion by 2030 and expanding exploration to one million square kilometres, with more than 170 blocks already awarded.

The Prime Minister also highlighted India’s robust refining capacity — ranking second in the world today and expected to soon become the largest — providing a strong base for investors. He stressed growing demand for natural gas and expanding LNG infrastructure, including terminals, pipelines and domestic shipbuilding programmes.

Modi lauded the recently signed India–EU Free Trade Agreement, calling it a hallmark of cooperation between two major economies and an enabler for business expansion, stronger supply chains and enhanced global confidence in India’s market potential.

India Energy Week 2026 continues to serve as a premier global forum where policymakers, industry leaders and innovators converge to catalyse investment, deepen strategic partnerships and shape the future of energy transition and security.
