India Reaches 100 GW Solar Module Manufacturing Milestone Under ALMM Framework

India’s 100 GW solar module manufacturing capacity milestone under ALMM framework – boosting renewable energy, exports, and clean energy goals.
India achieves 100 GW solar module manufacturing capacity under ALMM, strengthening domestic production, boosting exports, and driving clean energy growth.

In a significant boost to the country’s renewable energy ambitions, India has achieved a cumulative solar module manufacturing capacity of 100 gigawatts (GW) under the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) framework. The milestone reflects the rapid scaling up of domestic production capabilities, driven by supportive government policies, rising demand for clean energy, and strong participation from the private sector.

The ALMM framework, implemented to ensure quality standards and promote domestic manufacturing, has played a key role in enabling this achievement. The initiative has not only strengthened India’s self-reliance in solar technology but has also positioned the country as a potential global hub for solar equipment manufacturing.

Industry experts note that the enhanced capacity will help meet the growing demand from both utility-scale solar parks and rooftop solar projects, while also supporting the government’s goal of achieving 500 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030. With competitive pricing, advanced technology adoption, and increasing export potential, India’s solar manufacturing ecosystem is now well-placed to contribute significantly to global clean energy supply chains.
