In a significant step towards strengthening India’s renewable energy financing landscape, the Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (IREDA) has signed a performance-based Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE). The agreement sets a revenue target of ₹8,200 crore for the financial year 2025–26, reflecting both the government’s vision and IREDA’s growing role in accelerating India’s clean energy transition.
The MoU lays out specific key performance indicators aimed at enhancing IREDA’s efficiency in financing renewable energy projects, supporting large-scale solar, wind, and hybrid energy initiatives across the country. With this partnership, IREDA aims not only to expand its loan portfolio but also to contribute strategically to India’s renewable energy capacity targets under the national clean energy roadmap.
In recent years, IREDA has emerged as a key driver of India’s sustainable energy ambitions, providing financial and advisory support to a wide range of green projects. The new MoU signals an even stronger commitment to scaling renewable energy financing, enabling project developers, industries, and government schemes to achieve their sustainability goals.
