KPI Green Energy has won a significant contract from NTPC Ltd. to develop a plasma gasification-based green hydrogen generation plant at NTPC’s NETRA facility in Greater Noida, marking the company’s first entry into the green hydrogen segment.

The company received three Notifications of Award (NOAs) from NTPC for the project, collectively valued at ₹128.49 crore (excluding GST). The scope of the contract includes the design, engineering, manufacturing, supply, transportation, erection, installation, testing, pre-commissioning, and commissioning of the plant and equipment. It also covers the operation and maintenance of the facility for two years, along with associated civil and structural steel works.

The project envisages the establishment of a 1 tonne per day (TPD) green hydrogen plant using plasma-induced radiant energy gasification technology. This advanced waste-to-energy process converts municipal solid waste (MSW), refuse-derived fuel (RDF) and agricultural waste into synthesis gas, which can then be processed to produce green hydrogen. The technology helps reduce landfill dependence while recovering energy from waste, supporting environmental sustainability.

This development represents a strategic extension of KPI Green Energy’s existing renewable energy portfolio, which includes solar, wind and hybrid power projects. The order underscores the company’s intent to expand into emerging clean energy technologies such as waste-to-energy and green hydrogen, leveraging its integrated engineering, manufacturing and execution capabilities.

With this project, KPI Green Energy joins the early cohort of companies deploying plasma gasification-based green hydrogen generation in India, aligning with broader efforts to promote sustainable and circular energy solutions.
