Mr. Aman Mathur CEO & MD Addwatt Power Solutions Limited

Q. Could you tell us about the company’s mission and its growth from its founding in 2013/2014 to achieving over 1 GW of installed solar capacity today?

The company’s mission has always been to become a trusted player in renewable energy space particularly for the projects at utility and large C&I space. From our humble beginnings , we are proud to share that we have grown as an experienced renewable energy company having executed over 1.5Gw of Renewable projects across 21 states and 3 countries. Right from inception, we have never chased numbers & have focused more on team building, customer satisfaction & creating a
sustainable & ethical brand.

Q. What’s your plan for developing around 300 MW in open access and captive markets across Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Chhattisgarh over the next few years?

Like I said we are one of the few companies in this sector who has such a wide geographical spread & in order to cater to our Industrial customers, we are creating solar parks in all these states.

Q. Which competitive advantages do you consider most critical, particularly regarding your technical capabilities, network within the industry, or strategic collaborations?

In my opinion, our biggest competitive advantage is our experienced team. Specific to your question, I would say it’s the strategic collaboration which keeps you ahead of the curve in ever evolving Cleantech space. Technical capabilities and a sound network are essential too.

Q. How is your solar project portfolio split between utility-scale solar parks and rooftop installations?

We are doing ground mounted projects mainly which should constitute over 90% of our ongoingportfolio.

Q. Among land procurement, grid connectivity, technology limitations, and access to capital, which presents the most significant challenge for the company right now?

Grid connectivity is a scarce resource and availability of the same in areas with good radiation, wind speed & less grid outages is a challenge these days. Land procurement is a challenge for sure but we keep on looking for good land parcels in advance & tap good opportunities whenever they come. I would say anticipating your growth plans and quick decision making hold the key in creating right infrastructure.

Q. Over the next 3–5 years, what are the company’s most important strategic Initiatives?

There are many but won’t be able to disclose at this moment.

Q. How does the company plan to use digitalisation and automation over the long term to improve project management, monitoring, and O&M processes?

We have been using standard softwares for all of these processes but I am still curious to see any handy application of AI in O&m and generation monitoring. Most of them are quite esoteric and thus lack wide adaptability. Nonetheless, we would be glad to have any new tool which can improve the operational efficiency and reduce gaps in the system.
