MNRE requests creative ideas for biogas plants to expand its portfolio of sustainable energy sources.

The ministry is inviting proposals from developers, manufacturers, organizations, universities, R&D institutions, and industry players engaged in the manufacturing  and development of small biogas plants.New Delhi: The ministry of new and renewable energy (MNRE) has issued an open invitation for proposals for the approval of  innovative and new design material- based small biogas plants, with a size ranging from 1 to 25 cubic meters of biogas generation per day.The ministry is inviting  proposals from developers, manufacturers, organizations, universities, R&D institutions, and industry players engaged in the manufacturing and development of small  biogas plants.The ministry is looking for simple, efficient, cost-effective designs that offer significant changes from existing approved designs. 
 
They are interested in designs made from construction materials such as HDPE/PVC/LDPE or cost-effective alternatives to building and construction materials,  which must be durable, sustainable, and made from eco-friendly materials.Proposals must be capable of anaerobic fermentation that can run at normal solid  contents or at high concentrations for wastes such as cattle dung, biodegradable organic/biomass wastes, and waste from sanitary toilets, kitchen waste,  garbage/waste at decentralized locations.The MNRE will review, analyze, evaluate, and validate the proposals and based on the laboratory/field evaluation,  the promising technology/biogas plant designs may be released in the list of approved models of Biogas Plants. These approved models will then be eligible  for benefits under the Biogas Programme of the ministry. Proposals must be submitted in the prescribed format available on the MNRE website and are due by April 2, 2024.
