Trina Solar signs MoU with Marubeni Australia for supply of 1.5 GW modules

16 Nov 2023

China-based solar solutions provider Trina Solar today said it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with major wholesale distributor Marubeni Australia to supply 1.5 GW of modules to the Oceania region over a five-year period. As per a report, under the agreement, Trina Solar will supply Vertex modules that incorporate market-leading n-type i-TOPCon cell technology. The release also added that this move was in line with Oceania's Energy Transition Roadmap to 2050, which sets a solar power target of 27 GW by 2030 and 109 GW by 2050. According to the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific, apart from Australia and New Zealand, most Pacific countries are highly dependent on petroleum. Oil accounts for about 80 percent of the Pacific region's total energy supply, while renewable energy accounts for only 17 percent.
