The GST cut on solar modules is a very welcome step. It will make solar power more affordable and speed up adoption across India. As installations go up, the need for reliable domestic components will only rise.
Encapsulants and backsheets play a critical role in protecting solar panels and ensuring their long-term performance. This move by our government supports India’s renewable energy goals and opens up new opportunities for our solar manufacturing ecosystem.
I would also urge the government to extend the 5% GST rate to key inputs like encapsulants and back sheets, which will further strengthen self reliance and give a real push to India’s solar journey
