NLC India Limited has announced the successful commissioning of 52.83 megawatts (MW) of solar power at its Barsingsar site in Bikaner district, Rajasthan. The development marks the first phase of the company’s planned 300 MW solar project under the Central Public Sector Undertaking (CPSU) scheme.
The project received its commercial operation certificate from the Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation Limited on August 26, 2025, officially bringing the initial capacity online. Once the entire 300 MW facility is operational, which is expected by the end of September, it is projected to generate nearly 750 million units of clean electricity annually, contributing significantly to Rajasthan’s renewable energy supply.
Barsingsar has long been a power hub for NLC India, previously housing lignite-based thermal power operations. The transition to solar reflects the company’s broader push toward expanding its renewable portfolio and reducing dependence on fossil fuels.
This milestone reinforces NLC India’s commitment to the national renewable energy targets while strengthening Rajasthan’s position as a leading state in solar power generation.
