Powertrac Group has announced a ₹600 crore investment to establish a new containerized Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) manufacturing facility in India with an annual production capacity of 1,000 MWh.
The announcement marks a major step in the company’s expansion into advanced energy storage solutions and integrated renewable energy infrastructure.
According to the company, the upcoming facility will focus on lithium iron phosphate (LFP)-based battery pack assembly, in-house Battery Management System (BMS) development and integration, and the production of modular containerized grid-scale BESS units ranging from 1 MWh to 5 MWh. The plant will also support the development of solar-plus-storage hybrid energy solutions, enabling more reliable and dispatchable renewable power.
The investment is part of Powertrac Group’s long-term strategy to strengthen its presence across the clean energy value chain and support the growing demand for storage-backed renewable projects in India. The company aims to leverage the new manufacturing capacity to supply storage systems for both utility-scale and commercial and industrial applications.
Commenting on the development, Managing Director Divyarajsinh Zala stated that the strategic expansion aligns with the company’s broader objective of achieving 1,000 MW (1 GW) of operational independent power producer (IPP) projects by 2030. He added that the new facility will play a key role in supporting India’s transition toward reliable and sustainable energy systems.
With the planned investment, Powertrac Group is positioning itself as an integrated player in the solar and energy storage segment, focusing on localized manufacturing, advanced battery technologies, and scalable hybrid energy solutions.
