Rajasthan Energy Department signs MoU with Prayas Energy Group to strengthen grid planning and renewable energy integration
Rajasthan Energy Department and Prayas Energy Group formalise MoU to support grid planning and power sector policy research.

The Energy Department, Government of Rajasthan, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Prayas (Energy Group), Pune, to strengthen power system planning and support research-based policymaking in the state’s power sector. The MoU was signed on January 13, 2026, at Vidyut Bhawan in Jaipur.

The collaboration is aimed at addressing the growing challenges arising from the increasing quantum of renewable energy (RE) power injection into the grid and the need for effective future power management for round-the-clock electricity supply. As part of the agreement, both parties will work on analysing power system data, power flow patterns, and grid operations in coordination with the State Load Dispatch Centres. The partnership will also focus on understanding the evolving regulatory aspects of the grid and transmission networks.

The MoU signing ceremony was graced by Shri Ajitabh Sharma, Additional Chief Secretary (Energy), Government of Rajasthan. The agreement was signed by Shri Sourabh Swami, Joint Secretary (Energy), on behalf of the Energy Department, and Ms Ann Jose, Lead, Prayas (Energy Group). Senior officials, including the Director, State Load Scheduling Centre (SLSC), Director (Technical), Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation Limited (RRECL), and other senior officers from RRECL and the Energy Department, were present at the event.

The collaboration is expected to enhance evidence-based decision-making in Rajasthan’s power sector, particularly in areas related to renewable energy integration, grid stability, transmission planning, and regulatory reforms.

Prayas (Energy Group) is a Pune-based non-profit organisation that has been working since 1994 on electricity sector policy, planning, and regulatory processes across various states in India.
