JSW Energy’s Renewable Arms Raise Over ₹4,000 Crore Through Long-Term Bank Financing

JSW Energy’s renewable energy subsidiaries have secured more than ₹4,000 crore in long-term debt from a consortium comprising Axis Bank, Bank of Maharashtra and the National Bank for Financing Infrastructure and Development (NaBFID). The financing will be utilised to support the company’s ongoing and upcoming renewable energy projects, reinforcing its expansion strategy in India’s fast-growing clean energy sector.

The funding has been structured as long-tenor project loans with competitive pricing, reflecting the growing preference among renewable energy developers for bank financing during the construction phase. Industry experts note that commercial banks and infrastructure-focused financial institutions are increasingly offering attractive lending terms, making bank borrowings more cost-effective than raising capital through corporate bond issuances.

The fresh capital will support JSW Energy’s continued capacity addition across solar, wind and hybrid renewable energy projects. The company has been steadily expanding its clean energy portfolio as part of its long-term objective of strengthening its presence in sustainable power generation while contributing to India’s renewable energy transition.

The latest borrowing underscores the increasing confidence of financial institutions in India’s renewable energy sector, where long-term policy support, improving project economics and rising power demand continue to drive investments. As developers accelerate project execution to meet the country’s ambitious clean energy targets, access to competitive long-term financing is expected to remain a key enabler of sectoral growth.
