Sunsure Energy, India’s preferred Round-the-Clock renewable energy solutions provider for leading businesses and utilities, has signed a long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with M/s SPR Auto Technologies Limited (Formerly Shriram Pistons & Rings Limited), India’s largest manufacturer and exporter of pistons, piston rings, piston pins, and engine valves, and its subsidiary M/s SPR Takahata Precision India Pvt. Ltd. for a combined 21 MWp of solar power, supported by BESS, in Rajasthan.
Under the agreement, Sunsure Energy will supply renewable power through a group captive structure to the manufacturing plants of both entities in Rajasthan, from its 81 MWp solar project in Mundsar, Rajasthan.
Through the group captive structure, Sunsure will set up a dedicated solar + BESS plant to supply the two companies with approximately 35 million units (MUs) of renewable energy annually, resulting in an estimated offset of 24,840 metric tonnes of CO₂e emissions each year. The partnership with Sunsure Energy will enable the companies to increase the share of renewable energy in their operations and support their broader sustainability goals.
Commenting on the partnership, Mr. Sumantra Mukherjee, Executive Director, SPR Auto Technologies Limited, said, “Renewable energy adoption is an important part of our sustainability strategy as we work towards increasing the share of renewable energy in our operations. We have set a target to increase our renewable energy consumption to 50% by 2030 and achieve Net Zero emissions by 2045. Our partnership with Sunsure Energy will further strengthen our access to clean power for our manufacturing operations in Rajasthan and support our broader decarbonisation goals. We look forward to continuing our efforts towards building a more sustainable and energy-efficient manufacturing ecosystem.”
Commenting on the partnership, Mr. Shashank Sharma, Founder, Chairman and CEO, Sunsure Energy, said, “We are delighted to partner with SPR Auto Technologies to support its renewable energy adoption in manufacturing operations. As one of India’s leading automotive component manufacturers, SPR’s decision to adopt renewable power reflects the growing demand for firm clean energy across India’s manufacturing sector. Through this partnership, Sunsure will supply renewable power from our 81 MWp Mundsar project in Rajasthan, enabling SPR to access reliable and competitively priced clean energy while advancing its sustainability goals.”
The agreement adds to Sunsure Energy’s growing portfolio of renewable energy projects and partnerships in Rajasthan. Sunsure is developing an 81 MWp solar plant in Mundsar and a 200 MW wind-solar hybrid project in Sheo, Rajasthan, to cater to the state’s intrastate renewable energy demand. The company is also developing 1 GW of inter-state CTU-connected capacity in Rajasthan and plans to commission close to 2 GW of solar, wind and battery storage capacity in the state by 2028.
