EPC player in power transmission infrastructure, Bajel Projects Ltd, on Monday (October 26) said it has secured a major order worth approximately ₹200 crore from Tata Power Company Ltd for the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) of 400-kilovolt (kV) gas-insulated substations (GIS) at Dharavi and Ghatkopar in Mumbai.

The domestic contract covers the construction of 400 kV GIS receiving substations (RSS), including associated electrical systems, substation automation, communication infrastructure, balance of plant equipment and civil works.

The project is scheduled to be completed within 18 months from the date of issuance of the purchase order. Bajel Projects classifies orders worth ₹200 crore to ₹300 crore, inclusive of goods and services tax (GST), as major orders.

The company said the project will support the strengthening of Mumbai’s power transmission infrastructure and contribute to improving power reliability in the metropolitan region.

“As India’s leading cities continue to experience rapid urbanisation and increasing electricity demand, robust transmission infrastructure becomes critical to ensuring reliable and efficient power delivery. These projects will contribute to strengthening Mumbai’s grid network through advanced GIS technology while supporting the city’s long-term energy requirements. The order is in the ordinary course of business and has been awarded by a domestic entity. Bajel Projects said neither its promoters, promoter group nor group companies have any interest in the awarding entity. The contract does not fall under related-party transactions.

Bajel Projects operates in the power transmission and distribution sector. The company said it continues to undertake projects involving power transmission and distribution infrastructure.
