The European Union and India have collaborated to explore innovative research solutions aimed at addressing marine pollution and advancing the development of waste-to-renewable hydrogen technologies. In a statement released on Friday, the EU Delegation’s embassy in India said that the launch of ‘two significant research and innovation initiatives’ under the EU-India Trade and Technology Council (TTC), with a combined investment of €41 million (approximately Rs 394 crore).
These initiatives will drive collaborative solutions to pressing environmental issues and foster innovative technological advancements, as stated. “Facilitated through the EU’s Horizon Europe initiative and jointly funded by Indian ministries (MoES and MNRE), these two research initiatives aim to unite researchers, start-ups, and industries from both the EU and India to create sustainable and scalable solutions that have a global impact,” the statement said. The EU-India Trade and Technology Council (TTC) serves as a premier strategic coordination platform designed to strengthen the bilateral relationship in the areas of trade, technology, and innovation. The EU Delegation to India said, “By strengthening the EU-India partnership, these initiatives put into action the goals of the TTC and reinforce the commitment to joint innovation.”
