The proposed rules outline specific obligations for designated consumers, including mandatory reporting of energy consumption data, adherence to prescribed efficiency standards, and the adoption of energy-saving measures within stipulated timelines.
The draft framework also details monitoring and verification processes, penalties for non-compliance, and provisions for third-party audits to ensure transparency. By tightening compliance requirements, the ministry seeks to accelerate India’s progress towards its national energy efficiency targets and commitments under global climate agreements.
