RIL Commissions 1 GW+ of BIS-Certified Solar Panels, Boosting Renewable Energy Capacity

Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) has said that solar panels with a capacity of 1 GW+ manufactured in Jamnagar, Gujarat, have been commissioned and have also received BIS certification, according to a report.

In their latest 2024-25 annual report on green energy initiatives, the company has set a target to produce 10 GW of solar PV modules, encompassing cells, glass, wafers, ingots, and polysilicon. Further, the company is investing in battery storage solutions by establishing a 30 GWh advanced LFP chemistry-based battery manufacturing plant, planned to commence between 2025 & 2026.

RIL also plans to begin assembling Battery Energy Storage Systems for utility-scale applications by 2025-26. The company also aims to achieve grey-to-green hydrogen conversion through pilot-scale electrolyser technologies by the end of 2025.

Operations have commenced at seven CBG plants with a combined production capacity of 130 TPD (0.5 lakh TPA). These plants will produce 200,000 TPA of high-quality fermented organic manure. The company is also progressing toward setting up a total of 55 CBG plants, including an integrated CBG hub, with a total capacity of 0.4 MTPA of CBG and 2 MTPA of organic manure.

These milestones represent key targets in RIL’s clean energy transition, a crucial component of the company’s net-zero carbon ambition.
