AM Green has officially commenced development of its ambitious 1 GW High Performance Compute (HPC) and AI Data Center project in Uttar Pradesh, marking a major milestone in India’s journey toward building world-class artificial intelligence infrastructure.
The announcement follows the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with Invest UP at the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos earlier this year. As part of the project’s initial rollout, AM AI Labs has received a Letter of Intent from the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) for land allocation covering the first two phases of 150 MW and 200 MW capacity.
The development roadmap outlines 350 MW of operational capacity by 2028 and full 1 GW capacity by 2030. With a planned investment of approximately $25 billion and deployment of 500,000 high-performance chips, the project stands as one of India’s largest AI infrastructure investments to date.
What differentiates the initiative is its fully integrated architecture. Backed by the founders of Greenko Group, the project leverages extensive expertise in delivering large-scale, cost-competitive clean energy. The AI platform will be powered by owned carbon-free energy and integrated with advanced data center infrastructure, high-performance silicon, a full-stack AI software layer, and flexible consumption models ranging from AI Pods-as-a-Service to Tokens-as-a-Service.
By engineering the entire value chain—from energy generation to silicon to token delivery—AM Green aims to deliver globally competitive, low-cost AI compute solutions. This integrated model is designed to optimize efficiency across layers in ways that standalone infrastructure providers cannot.
India is currently the world’s second-largest AI token consumption market. With the establishment of domestic high-performance compute capacity, the project is expected to support advanced AI applications and frontier model development for both Indian and global markets.
Aligned with India’s Viksit Bharat 2047 vision, the initiative is projected to attract significant foreign direct investment, create thousands of high-skilled jobs, and establish Uttar Pradesh as a leading AI infrastructure hub in the country.
Commenting on the development, Anil Chalamalasetty, Group Chairman, AM Group, stated that integrating the full value chain from power generation through silicon to token delivery allows optimization across multiple layers, ensuring world-class AI infrastructure for Uttar Pradesh and India with strong support from the state government.
