In a significant push to strengthen global energy cooperation, the India–Africa Strategic Partnership Meet was convened on Day 3 of the Bharat Energy Summit 2026, bringing together ministers, ambassadors, senior officials, and global sectoral leaders to enhance collaboration in the power sector.

The session commenced with a welcome address by Jitendra Srivastava, Chairman and Managing Director of REC Limited, followed by strategic insights from leadership at NTPC Limited and Africa50.

The meet featured addresses from senior Indian leadership, including the Union Minister of Power and Housing & Urban Affairs, the Chief Minister of Haryana, and the Minister of State for Power and New & Renewable Energy. High-level participation from African nations included ministers from Mauritius and Malawi, along with ambassadors, high commissioners, and senior officials.

Prominent global institutions such as World Bank Group, Kenya Electricity Transmission Company Limited, and Africa Infrastructure Development Association contributed to the discussions, highlighting investment opportunities and infrastructure development pathways.

A detailed overview of India’s power sector was presented by the Chairperson of the Central Electricity Authority, followed by an interactive session between African delegates and Indian stakeholders, focusing on collaboration opportunities across the energy value chain.

Supported by Ernst & Young as the knowledge partner and moderator, the session provided a platform for countries to share priorities, explore joint ventures, and identify avenues for capacity building and institutional strengthening.

The meet marks a key step toward fostering sustainable and reliable power sector growth across both regions, reinforcing India’s commitment to advancing international energy partnerships.
