The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) and the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) have signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to deploy rooftop solar systems across MEA-managed buildings nationwide.

The partnership aligns with India’s clean energy goals under the PM Surya Ghar Yojana and aims to accelerate solar adoption within government infrastructure.

Under the agreement, SECI will act as the implementing agency, overseeing the design, installation, and grid connection of grid-connected rooftop solar PV plants on MEA’s diplomatic and administrative buildings. This move is expected to significantly reduce electricity expenses for the ministry while boosting the nation’s renewable energy footprint.

The MoU was formalised by Shri Anand Prakash, Director (Establishment), MEA, and Shri Manas Ranjan Mishra, Deputy General Manager (Solar), SECI, highlighting strong institutional commitment on both sides. Officials emphasised the initiative as a model for sustainable government operations—delivering energy savings, cutting carbon emissions, and enhancing energy self-reliance.

This collaboration may also inspire broader adoption of rooftop solar across other government departments, leveraging unused roof space for distributed clean power generation. With its expertise in turnkey rooftop solar solutions—including system design, installation, and maintenance—Ornate Solar is well-equipped to support public sector entities in this transition to renewable energy.
