Orient Green Power Company Limited (OGPCL) has successfully commissioned its first-ever solar power project, marking a strategic expansion beyond its core wind energy portfolio. The 7 MW AC solar power project, located at Krishnasamudhram Village in Tiruttani Taluk, Tiruvallur District, Tamil Nadu, has been developed through OGPCL’s subsidiary, Delta Renewable Energy Private Limited (DELTA).

The commissioning forms part of OGPCL’s broader diversification strategy, under which the company raised funds through a Rights Issue to implement a 25 MW AC solar power project via DELTA. The newly commissioned project received its service connection on December 5, 2025, and was successfully commissioned on December 6, 2025, following the completion of all statutory and procedural requirements.

This milestone marks OGPCL’s formal entry into the solar energy sector, complementing its established expertise in wind power and reinforcing its commitment to building a diversified renewable energy portfolio.

The 7 MW AC project is proposed to operate under the Group Captive Model, with power generated being supplied to the captive shareholders of DELTA. It is expected to meet the growing energy needs of existing customers while supporting the expansion of the company’s customer base. The addition of solar capacity is also anticipated to enhance long-term revenue stability and strengthen OGPCL’s competitive positioning in India’s rapidly evolving clean energy landscape.

Looking ahead, DELTA is currently in the process of finalising land parcels for the implementation of the remaining 18 MW AC solar capacity under the 25 MW AC project. OGPCL has indicated that further updates will be shared as the project progresses, reaffirming its vision of expanding into multi-source renewable energy and contributing meaningfully to India’s clean energy goals.
