In a significant stride towards a sustainable energy future, Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with three state-owned utilities GEDCOL, OHPC and OREDA under the Government of Odisha.

This collaboration marks a major step forward in Odisha’s clean energy transformation and highlights SECI’s commitment to advancing the country’s renewable energy goals.

The MoU was signed by Shri A.K. Naik, Executive Director on behalf SECI, and Shri Pranab Kumar Mohanty, Managing Director for GEDCOL, Shri Amiya Kumar Mohanty, Director (Operations) on behalf of OHPC, and Shri Saudutta Biplab Keshari Pradhan, CEO who represented OREDA.

The signing ceremony was part of the Global Energy Leaders’ Summit held at Puri from 05th to 07th December 2025. The event was attended by senior officials from the Government of Odisha, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), and SECI.

The MoU primarily focuses on a 1000 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), pumped storage projects, 2.5 GW floating Solar/Solar with BESS, and other cutting-edge renewable technologies. These projects are designed to bolster Odisha’s renewable energy infrastructure and accelerate the transition to clean energy.

The initiative will not only enhance the state’s energy security but also create both direct and indirect employment opportunities through various contracts and initiatives, contributing to the local economy.

This collaboration signifies a powerful step towards a more sustainable energy landscape and reflects the growing momentum of India’s renewable energy sector.
