Tamilnadu Petroproducts Limited has announced a strategic move to bolster its renewable energy consumption by procuring about 13.2 MW of captive solar power from Navia Three Power Private Limited, a special-purpose vehicle (SPV) of Zelestra India.
Under the arrangement, Tamilnadu Petroproducts will acquire a 26 percent equity stake in the SPV by investing approximately ₹7.33 crore in multiple tranches. This step will help the company meet the qualifying norms for captive power generation as per the Electricity Act, 2003 while securing a reliable and sustainable energy source.
The arrangement covers the procurement of roughly 19.8 MWp (DC) of solar capacity, equivalent to 13.2 MW (AC). The acquisition process is expected to be completed by September 2026, according to the regulatory filing.
Navia Three Power was formed to develop wind-solar hybrid power generation facilities in Tamil Nadu, creating clean energy capacities for industrial use.
According to the company’s Annual Report 2024–25, about 81 percent of Tamilnadu Petroproducts’ total energy consumption during the year was sourced from renewables, with nearly 105 million units generated from wind and solar projects. The company also plans to commission 230 kW and 442 kW rooftop solar systems at its heavy chemicals and linear alkyl benzene plants, respectively, in the current financial year.
