Vikram Solar has entered into a strategic domestic procurement agreement with Jupiter International Limited to secure a significant supply of high-efficiency solar cells valued at around ₹2,000 crore.

The pact, formalised on 20 February 2026, covers approximately 2 GW of crystalline solar cells that comply with India’s Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM), including TOPCon and mono PERC technologies.

The long-term supply deal is aimed at bolstering the company’s access to locally manufactured, high-performance solar cells amid a broader industry push to strengthen domestic production capacity. This move helps address the imbalance between solar module assembly capabilities and cell production in India’s renewable energy manufacturing ecosystem.

Industry observers see the agreement as a strategic step that will enhance supply security, support cost management, and align with evolving ALMM procurement norms ahead of tighter localisation requirements.

The deal also underscores the rising importance of domestic supply chains in India’s solar sector, as companies accelerate efforts to meet growing demand while reducing dependency on imports.
