Freyr Energy Doubles Rooftop Solar Installations in Bhopal to 895 kW in 2026

Freyr Energy, a rooftop solar company, has marked a significant milestone in Bhopal by nearly doubling its solar installations to 895 kW in 2026, up from 460 kW in 2025.

The company has enabled 229 households in the city to transition to solar energy to date. In the first quarter of 2026 alone, Freyr Energy has significantly expanded its solar capacity, reflecting the rising adoption of rooftop solar among residents in Madhya Pradesh’s capital.

This change is primarily driven by rising electricity costs and easy financing options supported by zero collateral loans and subsidies from the state and central government. Freyr’s experience centre in Bhopal has been instrumental in creating awareness at the grassroots level and educating customers on the benefits of solar.

MNRE is currently offering solar subsidies for rooftop solar in the residential sector under the existing structure. The central financial support is INR 60,000 for 2 kW systems and INR 78,000 for systems from 3 kW up to 10 kW. This subsidy is encouraging for homeowners as it helps reduce the upfront cost. For instance, in the case of a 3kW solar system, homeowners can receive INR 78,000 as a subsidy, making rooftop solar more affordable and accelerating residential adoption.

The company’s proprietary Freyr Energy app, supported by digital innovation and an end-to-end service model from the first step of installation to post-installation support, has been a key differentiator in earning consumer trust in the region.

With every household transitioning to solar, we are one step closer to reaching India’s solar energy goal of 500GW by 2030.”

Overall, the company has reached 6.5 MW of rooftop solar capacity across Madhya Pradesh, a substantial increase from 2.9 MW in 2025.

Freyr Energy’s initiatives are aligned with the Madhya Pradesh Renewable Energy Policy 2025, which aims to source 50 per cent of annual power consumption from renewable energy by 2030. By complementing the state’s existing achievements in solar energy, such as the world’s largest floating solar power plant in Khandwa and the Ultra Mega Solar Park in Rewa, Freyr Energy is contributing to Madhya Pradesh’s renewable energy potential.
