CESC Limited’s renewable energy platform, Purvah Green Power Private Limited (PGPPL), has signed a power supply agreement with Prism Johnson Limited to develop a 49.5 MW captive wind power project in Madhya Pradesh. The agreement marks Purvah Green Power’s first commercial and industrial (C&I) power supply arrangement.
The project will be established by KUS Renewable Private Limited (KRPL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Purvah Green Power. The wind project will be developed at Tehsil Alot in Ratlam district, Madhya Pradesh, and is planned to supply dedicated renewable electricity to Prism Johnson’s cement manufacturing facility in Satna, Madhya Pradesh.
Under the arrangement, Prism Johnson will invest up to ₹40 crore in KUS Renewable and acquire at least a 26.5% equity stake, along with redeemable preference shares. The investment is expected to be completed by October 31, 2027, according to the disclosed transaction details.
The project will operate under the group captive model, with the renewable power supply agreement structured for a period of 25 years. The scheduled commercial operation date for the wind project is January 25, 2028.
The captive structure is intended to provide Prism Johnson with dedicated access to renewable power for its manufacturing operations while supporting its energy efficiency, resource optimisation and sustainability objectives. The company has stated that the initiative will contribute to its broader environmental, social and governance (ESG) goals.
For CESC, the agreement represents an expansion of Purvah Green Power’s renewable energy business into the C&I segment. The company is developing its renewable energy platform with a focus on utility-scale and commercial and industrial opportunities. The agreement with Prism Johnson provides a long-term renewable power offtake arrangement for the new wind project.
The project comes as industrial consumers increasingly explore captive and group-captive renewable energy models to increase renewable electricity consumption and manage their energy requirements. For energy-intensive industries such as cement manufacturing, captive renewable generation can provide a long-term source of clean electricity while supporting sustainability targets.
The 49.5 MW wind project will therefore combine renewable power generation with a dedicated industrial offtake arrangement, creating a long-term framework for supplying clean electricity to Prism Johnson’s manufacturing operations in Madhya Pradesh.
