Advanced Materials, the business of Aditya Birla Chemicals (Thailand) Ltd., and Organic Recycling Systems Ltd. (ORSL) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to develop a sustainable recycling value chain for composite waste, including waste generated from wind energy applications.
The collaboration will combine Aditya Birla’s Recyclamine® epoxy technology with ORSL’s expertise in waste processing, recycling and resource recovery to develop scalable solutions for recovering and reusing valuable materials.
Composite materials, made from reinforcing fibres and epoxy resin, are widely used in wind turbine blades, transportation, construction, aerospace and industrial manufacturing because of their strength, durability and lightweight properties. However, conventional thermoset composites are difficult to recycle due to their permanently cross-linked resin structure.
Recyclamine® technology is designed to enable the separation and recovery of raw materials from composite structures, creating opportunities for their potential reuse and supporting more sustainable material management.
Under the proposed collaboration, ORSL will focus on integrating and optimising recycling processes for different types of composite waste, including conventional epoxy-based materials and composites using Recyclamine® systems. The partnership aims to establish a closed-loop approach that enables recovered materials to re-enter productive value chains.
The initiative seeks to address the growing challenge of end-of-life composite waste, particularly from wind turbine blades, while improving resource efficiency and reducing dependence on disposal.
By combining advanced material technology with recycling expertise, the companies aim to develop commercially viable solutions that support circularity across the wind energy and wider composites industries.
The collaboration marks a step towards transforming composite waste into a valuable resource and advancing more sustainable material lifecycles.
