ACCIONA Energía has been selected by the pharmaceutical company Ferrer to install and commission a photovoltaic system for self-consumption at its facilities in Sant Feliu de Buixalleu (Girona), reinforcing its commitment to generate a net positive environmental impact.
The plant has a total capacity of 432kWp and it is installed on the company’s building rooftop, making use of the available space and contributing to improving the energy efficiency of the facilities. Thanks to this infrastructure, Ferrer will cover all its electricity consumption with 100% renewable energy, significantly reducing CO2 emissions derived from its industrial activity.
This project represents a significant milestone in Ferrer’s Climate Transition Plan, which sets the roadmap for reducing emissions in its operations and across its value chain through investments in renewable energy and other actions aimed at achieving its goal of becoming carbon positive. As a B Corp company, Ferrer seeks partnerships that promote a fairer and more sustainable economy.
The agreement with Ferrer adds to other collaborations of ACCIONA Energía with pharmaceutical companies, a sector that plays a key role in the transition to a low-carbon economic model, due to its industrial weight and high energy demand. The company already supplies more than 575GWh of renewable electricity each year to businesses in the pharmaceutical sector, preventing 46,000 tons of CO₂ emissions –equivalent to removing more than 17,500 internal combustion engine vehicles from the road–, and reinforcing its contribution to the sector’s decarbonization.
