Adani Group to invest ₹1 Lakh Crore in Northeast, Adds Fresh ₹50,000 Crore Allocation

Gautam Adani, the Chairman of Adani Group, has recently announced an additional investment of ₹50,000 crore in the Northeast region over the upcoming decade, increasing the group’s overall commitment to ₹1 lakh crore. The announcement was made during the address of Adani at the Rising Northeast Investors Summit held in New Delhi.

“Three months ago, in Assam, we pledged to invest ₹50,000 crore. Today, once again, inspired by your leadership, I announce that the Adani Group will invest an extra ₹50,000 crore in the Northeast over the forthcoming decade,” Adani stated at the event.

As per the group, the fresh investments will focus on green energy initiatives, smart metering technology, hydropower, pumped storage systems, power transmission, roadways and highways, digital infrastructure, logistics, and the setting up of skills and vocational training centres. Adani stated that the new investment will prioritise local employment and entrepreneurship.

He further said, “However, beyond infrastructure, our focus will be on investing in individuals. Each initiative will prioritise local employment, local entrepreneurship, and community involvement.” Adani noted that an investment of ₹6.2 lakh crore has been made in the Northeast region since 2014. He said the road network in the region has doubled to 16,000 km, and the number of airports has increased from nine to 18 over the last decade.
