Gujarat Energy Signs 10-Year LNG Supply Agreement with ADNOC for Up to 4 Million Tonnes

Gujarat Energy Ltd (GEL), formerly Gujarat Gas Ltd, has signed a 10-year agreement with Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) to procure up to 4 million tonnes of liquefied natural gas (LNG), with supplies scheduled to begin in 2028, as the company looks to strengthen its long-term gas sourcing portfolio.

Under the agreement, Gujarat Energy will procure LNG from the international gas portfolio of XRG, ADNOC’s international investment company. The agreement marks the first procurement of LNG molecules from XRG’s international portfolio and is ADNOC’s fifth LNG supply agreement in India, the company said in a statement on Friday. The contract provides for supplies of up to 4 million tonnes over 10 years, with pricing linked to the Henry Hub index, according to GEL’s stock exchange disclosure. The agreement translates into an average potential supply of up to 400,000 tonnes annually, although actual offtake will depend on the contractual arrangements.

The deal will be executed through ADNOC’s global LNG marketing and trading platform, launched in Abu Dhabi Global Market in July 2026, which is targeting 47 million tonnes per annum of marketable LNG beyond 2030. “This agreement with Gujarat Energy strengthens ADNOC’s long-standing energy partnership with India. It represents the first sale of molecules from XRG’s international portfolio, reinforcing our commitment to delivering reliable, long-term LNG supplies,” Rashid Al Mazrouei, chief marketing and origination officer (LNG), said.

For Gujarat Energy, the agreement is expected to strengthen supply security for its expanding customer base, which includes industrial, commercial, domestic and automobile consumers. “Natural gas is central to driving India’s shift toward cleaner energy, acting as a crucial lower-carbon option that boosts industrial efficiency, offers households a safer cooking fuel, and accelerates the growth of eco-friendly transportation,” managing director Avantika Singh Aulakh said.

Gujarat Energy operates across the natural gas value chain, including gas trading, city gas distribution, exploration and production, power generation and LNG import infrastructure. Its city gas distribution network spans 44 districts across six states. For ADNOC, the agreement expands its LNG marketing presence in India and strengthens the role of XRG’s international portfolio in supplying Asian markets.
