Interview with Mr. Ashvin Patel, Managing Director, Credence Solar Pvt. Ltd.

Redefining Solar Durability and Performance with Advanced Bifacial Modules and N-Type TOPCon Technology

Q: Credence Solar has been investing heavily in R&D. Can you share a breakthrough technology your team has recently developed that could redefine the solar industry?
A: One of our most exciting innovations is our Enhanced Ribbed-Glass Technology for high-wattage bifacial solar modules. Designed to solve the issue of glass sagging in large-size modules, this patented technology uses a reinforced ribbed structure on the rear glass. It boosts structural integrity, prevents microcracks, and extends module lifespan—all while improving bifacial gain and energy efficiency.

We’ve integrated this breakthrough into our latest 730W 18BB bifacial modules, the highest wattage from any Indian manufacturer to date. Coupled with N-Type TOPCon cell technology, our modules offer unmatched performance and durability, ideal for utility-scale solar power projects.

Q: With the increasing shift toward perovskite and tandem solar cells, is Credence Solar exploring these technologies? How do you address scalability and durability?
A: Yes, we’re closely tracking perovskite solar cell and tandem cell advancements through our dedicated R&D wing. While these technologies hold promise in efficiency, their commercial scalability and long-term durability are still being tested. Issues like UV degradation, moisture sensitivity, and thermal instability are barriers to mass adoption.

Credence Solar is taking a pragmatic innovation approach. While continuing to perfect TOPCon and bifacial technologies for today’s market, we are exploring hybrid materials and encapsulation techniques that could one day unlock the commercial potential of perovskites.

Q: Grid instability is a concern with growing solar penetration. How is Credence Solar addressing this with smart grid or inverter solutions?
A: Although our core focus is PV module manufacturing, we understand the need for grid-resilient renewable energy solutions. We envision a future where modules, smart inverters, and storage work together in harmony. We’re actively collaborating with ecosystem partners to build intelligent, grid-interactive solar networks that enhance reliability and stabilize renewable energy inputs.

Q: The industry is leaning into vertical integration. Is Credence Solar planning to expand into upstream or downstream segments like storage or raw material processing?
A: We are currently focused on scaling up our PV module capacity to 2.2 GW and refining our TOPCon and bifacial solar technologies. However, we’re laying the groundwork for vertical integration through strategic partnerships and investments.

Within the next year, we plan to launch our own 1 GW cell manufacturing facility to reduce dependency on external supply chains and improve quality control. While we are not yet involved in raw material processing or EPC services, we remain open to expanding in a way that aligns with our core strengths and long-term growth strategy.

Q: What will Credence Solar present at RenewX 2025, and how does this align with the vision of sustainable energy in India?
A: At RenewX 2025, we will launch our Quasar N 730W Module, built with N-Type TOPCon technology and an enhanced bifacial design for superior energy yield. This high-performance solar module is tailor-made for utility-scale solar projects and supports India’s goal of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030.

Through cutting-edge R&D and product excellence, Credence Solar is committed to enabling India’s clean energy transition. Our focus on durability, scalability, and high efficiency positions us as a leader in next-generation solar technology.
