NLC India Signs MoU with Gujarat Government at Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference

NLC India Limited (NLCIL), a Navratna Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Coal, Government of India, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Gujarat during the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference for the Saurashtra and Kutch Region held on 12th January 2026 at Rajkot.

The MoU was signed by Shri Devendra Pratap Singh, Executive Director (Projects & Business Development) & Chief Executive Officer, NLC India Renewables Limited (NI RL) on behalf of NLCIL and Smt. Bhakthi Shamal, Joint Secretary, Energy & Petrochemicals Department on behalf of the Government of Gujarat in the august presence of Shri Piyush Goyal, Hon’ble Union Minister for Commerce and Industry, Government of India, Shri Jitubhai Vaghani, Hon’ble Minister, Government of Gujarat, Shri Rushikesh Patel, Hon’ble Minister, Government of Gujarat, and Shri Kaushikbhai Vekariya, Hon’ble Minister, Government of Gujarat.

The MoU is non-binding in_ nature and envisages the development of large-scale Renewable Energy (RE) projects in the State of Gujarat, including Solar, Wind, Hybrid and Battery Energy Storage Projects, with an aggregate investment potential of approximately ~25,000 crore and generation of substantial employment opportunities.

The proposed projects shall be developed through NLC India Renewables Limited (NIRL), a wholly owned subsidiary of NLC India Limited and its dedicated 100% Renewable Energy arm, established to spearhead NLCIL’s green energy growth and sustainability initiatives. This strategic collaboration _aligns with NLC India Limited’s Corporate Plan to achieve 10 GW of Renewable Energy capacity by the year 2030, and underscores the company’s commitment towards sustainable development, energy security and decarbonisation.

Under the MoU, the Government of Gujarat shall facilitate NLCIL/NIRL in obtaining necessary statutory approvals, clearances, registrations and other support as per the prevailing policies and regulations of the State Government, enabling time-bound implementation of the proposed projects.

The collaboration further strengthens Gujarat’s position as a leading hub for renewable energy in the country and contributes to India’s national goals of achieving Net Zero emissions and enhancing the share of non-fossil fuel-based power generation.
