NSEFI, through its newly established subsidiary NSEFI Sustainable Energy Federation of Industry, announced the formal launch of its Southern Regional Committee Chapter — headquartered in Chennai — marking a significant step in advancing decarbonisation advocacy across Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Kerala.

The launch event was held on 10 June 2026 at the Taj Connemara Hotel, Binny Salai, Chennai – 600 002. Senior dignitaries from the Central and State Governments have graced the occasion as Chief Guests.

To consolidate decarbonisation advocacy under a single platform, NSEFI recently launched NSEFI Sustainable Energy Federation of Industry, a dedicated subsidiary focused on electricity and industrial decarbonisation. The Southern Regional Committee has been established to provide comprehensive knowledge support and regular industry feedback to state governments, with a focus on advocacy surrounding Solar, Wind, Energy Storage, Green Hydrogen, and other emerging clean energy technologies across five southern states.

Shri. R. Chellappan, Chairman, Southern Regional Committee, said, “The establishment of the Southern Regional Committee marks a pivotal moment for the renewable energy sector in South India. We are committed to providing robust advocacy and knowledge support to ensure faster and more coordinated growth of clean energy across the region.”

Together through unified policy representation, NSEFI Federation and State Associations will create a complete representation to State and Central Governments — enabling consistent, rapid policy formulation in renewables to meet NET ZERO, CBAM commitments, and ESG compliance to reduce global warming. It will also help address all the regulatory requirements in the State and Centre uniformly

The launch event brought together leading renewable energy developers, EPC companies, manufacturers, investors, policymakers, and other key stakeholders from the clean energy ecosystem. The gathering aims to set the agenda for regional collaboration and accelerate South India’s transition towards clean energy.
