Oil India Limited (OIL) has entered into a strategic collaboration with Canada’s Petroleum Technology Research Centre (PTRC) to strengthen cooperation in carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS), geothermal energy, clean energy technologies, and startup-driven innovation. The framework agreement was signed during the Global Energy Show held in Calgary, Canada.
The partnership aims to enhance India-Canada collaboration in addressing energy transition challenges and promoting sustainable energy solutions. Through this initiative, both organizations will work together on research, technology development, and knowledge sharing in emerging low-carbon energy sectors.
As part of the agreement, OIL and PTRC will explore opportunities in carbon storage, subsurface energy production, and geothermal energy projects. The collaboration will also focus on identifying potential business opportunities in both India and Canada by leveraging the expertise and industry networks of the two organizations.
The framework includes joint research initiatives through PTRC’s Energy Innovation Hub, particularly in areas related to subsurface energy technologies. Additionally, the partnership will support innovation through collaborative engagement with mc2+, a startup platform established under India’s Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas to promote clean energy technology development.
The agreement reflects Oil India’s growing focus on clean energy and decarbonization while reinforcing international cooperation to accelerate the development and deployment of advanced energy technologies.
