PPC Group has completed the construction of one more wind farm, with an installed capacity of 36 MW, at Karkaros, in the Municipal Units of Antikyra and Desfina, Central Greece.

The installed capacity of the farm is 36 MW, generated from seven wind turbines, manufactured by Siemens Gamesa, type SG145. The interconnection of the station with the electricity system will be ensured through a new step-up substation of 33/150 kV. The wind farm is expected to be fully operational in 2026.

The rich wind potential of the area, combined with the choice of state-of-the-art wind turbines, ensures electricity generation of 82.5 GWh annually. This electricity can cover the needs of almost 20,000 households, while preventing the emission of approximately 41,250 tons of CO2.

At the same time, with this project, PPC Renewables, the fully-owned subsidiary of the PPC Group, continues the construction of three more wind farms in Greece at Rodopi, Fokida, and Arcadia, with a total capacity of approximately 100MW.

A few days ago, the PPC Group also announced the commencement of operations for the second construction phase of the Deleni wind farm in Vaslui County, the largest wind energy project in Northeastern Romania. The capacity of the wind farm will be increased by an additional 85 MW, with the construction of 14 new wind turbines of a capacity of 6.1 MW each, which will be added to the 140 MW of the first phase, already under construction.

The organic development of wind farms is of strategic significance for the PPC Group and has a material contribution to the stability of the system, given that wind energy can be generated at all hours of the day and night, provided that the wind is blowing.

The construction of the new wind farm is a step further to RES development by the PPC Group, both organically and through partnerships, across Greece and Southeastern Europe, playing a key role in achieving PPC Group’s target of renewable energy projects with a total capacity of 11.8 GW by 2027.
