R.Power, a pan-European Independent Power Producer (IPP), has celebrated the completion of a 3-year, €250 million equity financing process, paving the way for its next round of equity investment, alongside the significant expansion of its multi-technology renewable energy and battery energy storage (BESS) portfolio across Europe.
This equity milestone represents the culmination of an investment agreement signed in 2023 with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the Three Seas Initiative Investment Fund (3SIIF), advised by Amber Infrastructure.
All of the equity committed as part of this agreement has now been deployed, bringing the total capital commitment of these investors to €250 million (USD 294 million), representing nearly 30% of R.Power’s share capital, with the balance being held by the founders and management. The investment was executed through 3S RA Holdings S.à r.l., which represents the combined equity participation of EBRD and the Three Seas Initiative Investment Fund in R.Power.
The completion of this equity process further strengthens R.Power’s balance sheet and ownership structure, reinforcing the company’s position as one of the leading IPPs, both in Poland and further afield.
R.Power’s ongoing expansion across Europe is closely tied to its strategy to develop a significant pipeline of advanced, grid-secured BESS projects – both standalone and hybrid solar PV + BESS facilities. These projects represent a significant step towards a balanced and diversified portfolio, encompassing both generation and storage.
The firm’s flagship BESS projects include Jedwabno (150 MW / 300 MWh), Gdańsk (250 MW / 1,000 MWh), Dzięgielewo (300 MW / 1,200 MWh) and Czekanów (300 MW / 1,200 MWh) in Poland, as well as Scornicesti in Romania (127 MW / 254 MWh) and Belpasso in Italy (98 MW / 784 MWh).
Przemek Pięta, CEO and Co-founder of R.Power, said: “The culmination of this equity financing process has given us a springboard towards a core strategic objective; to develop a large-scale battery energy storage portfolio that will structurally balance our photovoltaic assets and enable the long-term scalability of our renewable platform. BESS is a fundamental pillar of our growth model, allowing us to increase flexibility and optimize revenues. By balancing our renewable energy generation and BESS portfolios, R.Power is gearing up to deliver firm, clean power, and taking a pioneering role in the transformation of Europe’s energy system.”
R.Power’s overall pipeline of grid-secured, utility-scale BESS and renewables projects exceeds 10GW, spanning six major markets: Poland, Romania, Germany, Italy, Portugal and Spain. This development pipeline complements a 1.4GW portfolio of operational and construction projects, backed up by debt financing arrangements with leading financial institutions and long-term offtake contracts with major utilities and corporate brands.
