The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has discovered a lowest tariff of ₹5.25 per unit in its latest Round-the-Clock (RTC) Renewable Energy auction, marking another significant step towards ensuring reliable clean power supply while supporting India’s transition to a low-carbon energy system. The auction attracted strong participation from leading renewable energy developers, reflecting sustained investor confidence in the RTC power segment.
The tender was floated for the procurement of 1,200 MW of RTC renewable energy integrated with Energy Storage Systems (ESS) under Tranche-VI. According to SECI, the bidding process received an overwhelming response, with total bids of 2,400 MW, twice the tendered capacity, highlighting the growing maturity and competitiveness of India’s renewable energy market.
ReNew Power emerged as the lowest bidder, securing 600 MW at a tariff of ₹5.25 per unit, while Jindal India Renewable Energy won the remaining 600 MW at ₹5.27 per unit. The projects will combine renewable generation with energy storage to ensure continuous power availability, enabling utilities to access firm and dispatchable clean energy throughout the day.
The successful auction underscores the rapid evolution of India’s renewable energy ecosystem, where advances in storage technologies and competitive project execution are making round-the-clock renewable power increasingly viable. The initiative is expected to strengthen grid reliability, reduce dependence on conventional fossil-fuel-based generation and accelerate progress towards the country’s long-term clean energy and net-zero objectives.
