Sterlite Group has announced the appointment of Sumil Mathur as its Group Chief Financial Officer (Group CFO). The appointment covers its key businesses, Sterlite Electric, Resonia Ltd. and Serentica Renewables.
Mathur will lead the Group’s financial strategy, governance framework and capital management, with responsibility for risk oversight and financial transformation initiatives aimed at supporting sustainable growth and long-term value creation across businesses.
Prior to joining the Group, Mathur served as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer at Emaar India Ltd., where he played a key role in executing the company’s post-demerger strategy. His tenure was marked by stronger financial discipline, asset monetisation and the creation of scalable project pipelines aligned with long-term objectives.
Commenting on the appointment, Pratik Agarwal, Managing Director of Sterlite Electric and Chairman of Resonia Ltd. and Serentica Renewables, said that Mathur’s expertise in financial leadership and large-scale transformation would be critical as the Group expands its platforms and strengthens its operational foundations.
Speaking on his new role, Mathur said that he looks forward to contributing to India’s power infrastructure development and energy transition by enhancing financial resilience and enabling strategic growth across the Group’s businesses.
Earlier in his career, Mathur has held senior leadership roles at HCL, Indus Towers, Bharti Airtel and JCB, gaining wide-ranging experience across infrastructure, real estate, telecommunications and manufacturing. His professional background includes large-scale project execution, capital planning and aligning financial frameworks with operational priorities.
