Telangana Sets Ambitious Target to Generate 20,000 MW Green Energy by FY30

The Congress administration in Telangana is formulating a comprehensive strategy for power generation over the next 50 years, with a target of generating 20,000 MW of green energy by the year 2029-30, as stated by Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Monday. While speaking at a meeting in Achampet, located approximately 150 km from Hyderabad, Vikramarka noted that during the ongoing summer season, despite an unprecedented electricity demand reaching 17,162 MW, the government successfully ensured a continuous power supply without any interruptions.

He also mentioned that projects like the building of the Regional Ring Road, the revitalisation of the Musi River, and the enhancement of manufacturing industries in each district are anticipated to lead to a rise in the state’s power demand in the future. Criticising the former BRS administration, Vikramarka stated that the previous Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, who governed for a decade, left outstanding payments of ₹10,000 crore owed to government employees. Shortly after assuming office, the Congress government settled ₹8,000 crore of that total.

He assured the staff that the outstanding payments would be resolved in stages. Vikramarka further stated that the initiatives launched by the state government have set a benchmark for the nation, with other states now seeking Telangana to understand how it completed the caste census.
