Delta Secures 12-Year Wind Power Agreement for Tamil Nadu Facilities; Targets Reduction of 6,979 MT in Carbon Emissions

Delta Electronics India has signed a 12-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) to acquire 9.6 million units of wind-generated electricity each year for its manufacturing and operational facilities located in Tamil Nadu, as stated by the company.

The agreement, arranged by Ventus Energy Consultancy Private Limited, is expected to assist the company in decreasing its carbon emissions by around 6,979 metric tonnes each year. The electricity will be sourced from wind farms situated in Tirunelveli, Tuticorin, and Tiruppur via the Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (TANGEDC) grid.

Benjamin Lin, the President of Delta Electronics India, stated, “At Delta, we lead by example—integrating renewable energy into our operations not only drives sustainable growth but also supports India’s climate ambitions and propels our global net-zero journey. Strategic collaborations like this are vital to creating a resilient and responsible energy ecosystem.”

In 2023, Delta accomplished a 39% decrease in Scope 1 and 2 emissions relative to its baseline established in 2021. From 2010 to 2023, Delta’s energy-efficient products facilitated global electricity savings exceeding 45.5 billion kWh, which led to the avoidance of 23.84 million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions, as reported by the company.
