Ingeteam is contributing to Italy’s energy transition by participating in the development of one of the country’s largest battery energy storage systems; a project that marks a significant milestone in improving the capacity and stability of the national electricity grid.

With a rated power of 200 MW and a total capacity of 800 MWh, the facility is a benchmark in the European energy storage sector. Ingeteam was selected as the project’s technology partner due to its extensive experience in energy storage systems and its ability to offer solutions designed and manufactured in Europe. As part of this collaboration, the company supplied its plug-and-play medium-voltage solutions, which include 54 plug&play power stations, each equipped with two storage inverters, medium-voltage transformer and switchgear, and an auxiliary services panel —, 7 power distribution units and state-of-the-art monitoring and control systems (SCADA and PPC).

These advanced monitoring systems, equipped with machine learning capabilities, are capable of performing predictive analysis of all plant components, as well as continuously monitoring the health status of each battery cell, allowing for the early identification of potential degradations or anomalies.

“The completion of this project marks a turning point in our contribution to Italy’s energy transition,” said Stefano Domenicali, Vice-President and Managing Director of Ingeteam Italia. “Thanks to our technology and expertise, we are helping to build innovative energy infrastructure capable of meeting the growing challenges facing the energy sector. We are extremely proud to have been chosen for such an ambitious and strategically important project.”
