“Our vision for the coming years is to serve as a pivotal growth engine for India’s energy transition. We aim to power the next generation of industrial modernization by providing zero-maintenance hardware, cybersecurity control architectures, and energy data transparency required to build a resilient, sustainable, and fully automated energy ecosystem across the nation.“

1. What are the key developments and focus areas for WAGO India as the electrical, automation and renewable energy sectors continue to evolve?

At WAGO India, our primary focus has been transitioning from a reliable component provider to a comprehensive strategic partner driving digital transformation, smart automation, and clean-energy integration. As India’s industrial landscape shifts toward data-driven ecosystems, our key developments center on expanding local value addition through our manufacturing facility in Vadodara.

We are focused on aligning our high-efficiency hardware and open-architecture automation systems with national priorities like Make in India. Specifically, within the evolving renewable energy and grid automation sectors, our core priorities include delivering maintenance-free electrical connectivity and secure, open-protocol digital platforms that ensure long-term grid stability and operational efficiency.

2. With renewable energy projects becoming more automated and digitally connected, how is WAGO supporting solar, energy storage and other clean-energy applications through its latest technologies and solutions?

As renewable energy assets grow increasingly decentralized and digitized, operational reliability and robust cybersecurity are paramount. WAGO supports solar, Battery Energy Storage Systems, and green hydrogen applications by integrating intelligent, open-architecture control platforms equipped with built-in cybersecurity, such as IEC 62443 & IEC 62351 compliance, to protect critical energy infrastructure.

On the software and monitoring front, our Energy Data Management platforms enable continuous, real-time tracking of asset performance, optimizing energy generation, identifying inefficiencies, and assisting operators in lowering overall lifecycle costs. Furthermore, our high-efficiency power supplies and intelligent fieldbus controllers ensure seamless control across clean-energy plants.

3. Which of WAGO’s latest products or solutions are gaining attention in the renewable energy sector, and what specific challenges do they help customers address?

We’re seeing incredible momentum around a few core technologies that directly solve long-standing headaches in green energy installations. First off, our terminal blocks and wiring connectors are winning a lot of trust in solar inverters and wind turbines. Traditional screw terminals struggle under heavy vibration and thermal stress, which leads to loose contacts and burnout. Because of our spring-pressure CAGE CLAMP® technology, these connections stay completely maintenance-free and vibration-proof over their entire lifecycle.

On the digital and control side, our WAGO I/O System 750, PFC300 & Edge Controllers are solving multi-vendor compatibility issues in solar monitoring and energy storage setups. They easily pull data from different sensors and power units while providing built-in, utility-grade IEC 62443 certified cybersecurity. Finally, our Energy Data Management software helps plant operators get full, real-time visibility over power generation and consumption, turning raw operational data into actionable efficiency gains.

4. As renewable energy projects become larger and more complex, what are the major challenges customers face in electrical connectivity and automation, and how is WAGO addressing them?

When you scale up solar parks or battery energy storage facilities, the biggest challenges shift from basic component performance to macro-level system integration, environmental durability, and compliance. You’re dealing with miles of cabling running through harsh Indian environments—extreme heat, heavy dust, and constant thermal cycling. That drastically increases the risk of connection failures and costly downtime. At the same time, operators face complex utility standards and need to feed telemetry securely into distribution substations and SLDCs across mixed legacy and modern protocols.

We address this by offering an end-to-end physical and digital ecosystem. Physically, our connection technology ensures long-term asset integrity across the whole plant without requiring regular retightening, complemented by our XTR series, which is specifically engineered for extreme temperature tolerance, vibration resistance, and surge immunity to ensure maximum durability in severe environmental conditions.  Digitally, our open-architecture control platforms act as universal protocol converters, allowing EPCs to connect field assets safely, comply with strict grid codes, and protect their infrastructure against cyber threats without getting locked into a proprietary ecosystem.

5. How is WAGO India working with EPCs, system integrators, OEMs and manufacturers to develop application-specific solutions for the growing renewable energy market?

We have shifted our market approach from transactional sales to deep, long-term engineering partnerships. WAGO collaborates directly with EPCs, panel builders, system integrators, and OEMs right from the project design phase to engineer application-specific solutions. By leveraging our local manufacturing capabilities, we deliver customized, high-performance panel components and automation architectures engineered for Indian price-to-performance requirements and fast turnaround times. We assist partners in meeting stringent power utility standards, simplifying protocol conversions, and ensuring that integrated panels achieve maximum reliability, rapid installation, and zero-compromise safety.

6. What are WAGO India’s current priorities in terms of new technologies, product development, market expansion and strengthening its presence across India?

For us at WAGO India, our biggest priority right now is staying ahead of the curve as our national infrastructure rapidly modernizes. On the technology front, we’re putting a lot of our energy into expanding our IIoT and cybersecurity capabilities, making sure our controllers don’t just automate processes but also protect critical assets from modern cyber threats. We’re also heavily committed to sustainability in our product development, incorporating recycled raw materials into our components and focusing on high-efficiency power systems.

When it comes to market expansion, local manufacturing is our true anchor. We are continuously scaling up operations at our Vadodara facility so we can deliver tailored, high-quality solutions with much faster turnaround times for our Indian clients. Geographically and strategically, we’re deepening our roots where the growth is most vital—partnering closely with stakeholders across utility-scale renewables, energy storage, green hydrogen, and smart infrastructure projects right across the country.

7. How do you see automation, digitalization and smart electrical connectivity shaping the future of India’s renewable energy industry, and what is WAGO’s vision for the coming years?

Automation and digitalization are no longer optional additions; they are the backbone of grid stability, asset efficiency, and the successful integration of decentralized green energy in India. Smart electrical connectivity ensures that clean power generated in remote locations can be monitored, managed, and safely fed into the national grid with zero disruption.

Our vision for the coming years is to serve as a pivotal growth engine for India’s energy transition. We aim to power the next generation of industrial modernization by providing zero-maintenance hardware, cyber-security control architectures, and energy data transparency required to build a resilient, sustainable, and fully automated energy ecosystem across the nation.
