The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with HyperVault AI Data Center Limited (HADL) to explore renewable energy supply for the company’s upcoming data centre facilities in Telangana.
Under the MoU, SECI will explore the development of renewable energy projects on a captive basis to meet the power requirements of HADL’s planned data centre facilities. The collaboration will also cover identification of suitable land and facilitation of transmission connectivity for supplying renewable power to the facilities.
The agreement was signed by Shri Sivakumar V. Vepakomma, Director (Power Systems), SECI, and Mr. Deepesh Nanda, Managing Director and CEO, HADL. The signing took place in the presence of Shri Akash Tripathi, IAS, Managing Director, SECI, along with senior officials from both organisations.
The initiative seeks to bring renewable energy directly into the rapidly expanding data centre infrastructure segment, where rising electricity demand is being driven by cloud computing, artificial intelligence and digital services.
According to the organisations, the partnership represents the first exclusive renewable energy supply initiative for data centre operations in India. It brings together the country’s growing digital infrastructure requirements with its transition towards cleaner energy sources.
Through the proposed captive renewable energy projects, the collaboration is expected to support HADL’s efforts to secure clean power for its upcoming facilities while contributing to the broader integration of renewable energy into India’s rapidly growing data centre ecosystem.
